About Mark

Canadian Charcoal Artist

Creating was something I have always been passionate about. Ever since I was a kid, I loved to draw and build things. When I was only 16, I decided to take my love for creating and started to build furniture. I worked in the lumber yard at a local hardware store, where during the slower periods, I would build anything and everything.

After leaving the hardware store I ended up having my own furniture shop where I did all custom furniture. I built the stuff you could never find in stores. I am the type of person that likes to try and recreate the things that seem impossible.

At the age of 29 and three children later, I decided to change things up and I went to work as a production manager in a manufacturing shop for Corrections Canada. There we built millions of dollars worth of furniture every year in an environment where there was little to no knowledge of furniture manufacturing. After working with furniture for so many years, I had decided I wanted to step away from it and try something new.

Knowing my old love for drawing (that I hadn’t done in about 15 years) my amazing wife had decided to get me a charcoal kit for Christmas. At first, I wasn’t overly eager to start drawing and my wife had said “ the charcoal wasn’t a very good idea for Christmas ... was it?” Of course, I felt bad and decided to pick up a piece of charcoal and give it a shot. That was January 16, 2016. Since then, I have created thousands of drawings for people all across the world. I have shipped hundreds of prints to Canada and the US. I have done drawings for people across the ocean in Egypt and Europe.

I am completely overwhelmed everyday over the response I get from all who support my work, whether it is in buying a print, ordering a custom drawing, liking my page, liking my posts, or sharing my work. Everyday I strive to be better than the day before in every aspect of my life.

My artwork puts me in a state of relaxation and emotion at the same time.

Thank you so much for all the support, I wouldn’t be where I am today without all of you!
